An extract from the book
I wished for the umpteenth time that I was not so shy. I knew my face had flushed. It always did when I was nervours. Renee was sitting so close to me and I could think of nothing to say. Liz was chatting to him so easily. "Renee, how is it that you speak such perfect English?" "Simple. My mother is English and we lived in England for many years. We returned to Paris when I was about twelve. My mother and father are both English teachers at schools just outside Paris. I go home quite often".
